Member of the Month - May 2026

Dear Tomasz,

We would like to congratulate you on being named Member of the Month. You have been with us at the box for almost exactly four years. Your positive attitude and the good vibes you bring every day make you an invaluable part of our community and a true asset to our box.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

When something truly interests me, I can obsess over it for a really long time. I guess I’m also wired for endurance. 10 hours on the bike still feels easier to me than 1 hour of CrossFit :)

Is there any fact about you that most people don’t know?

I can speak Finnish and my kids (10 and 12) were both born in Helsinki.

What was your dream job as a kid, and what are you actually doing today?

I remember getting my hands on an Intel i386 PC at an age of 12 or so. After this, I knew that I will work with computers. And here I am, doing exactly that. I am currently an IT manager in Pharma and I still have often the chance to use new technology hands on.

How do you get motivated for a difficult task?

As most do, breaking the task into smaller chunks and attack them one by one. Here a small success story in this regard: When I started CrossFit, I couldn’t do a single pull-up, now I can hit 10 strict ones.

How and when did you start your CrossFit journey?

I am working literally next door. So I just gave it a try 4 years ago. Honestly, at the beginning I just did it to stay fit. Later I got hooked due to the great community and motivation from progress I made over the time.

What influence has CrossFit on the rest of your life?

My core and back got stronger. I can feel improvements on long cycling trips or when carrying a heavy backpack. I have more energy during the day and I need less sleep compared to before.

Do you do other sports besides CrossFit? If yes, what do you do?

I do mountain biking in a local club. During summer we usually do at least one long trip every weekend. There are many trails on my home hill, Irchel. MTB is mainly an endurance sport and a great addition to CrossFit.

Do you remember your favorite moment in our box?

It was wonderful to do CrossFit under the sun on the roof top while the current box was rebuilt. Long- time members will remember.

Is there anything you would like to share with fellow members or potential new members?

To new members: Stay consistent and learn more about nutrition.

Consistency: Set your own ambitious but realistic goals, and just keep showing up. If you stay consistent, the progress will come naturally.

Food: Especially once you hit your 40s (I’m 44), paying attention to how food affects you becomes more relevant. I ask myself simple questions such as: Which foods give me sugar cravings later? What gives me the best energy before training? Which meals leave me feeling bloated? Am I getting enough good fats and proteins today?

Small observations like these have helped me feel much better and perform stronger. If any of my answers resonats with you, feel free to come talk to me anytime, I’d love to hear what works for you too!
